Gulf Coast Native Yarn

$30.00

Mill-spun sport weight 100% wool from our very own Gulf Coast Native sheep. Each skein is approximately 200 yards of Sport Weight yarn.

This product is eligible for the Shave ‘Em to Save ‘Em program. (Please request stickers during checkout)

Our local mill did a FANTASTIC job with this yarn. It is so silky and soft, we mistook it for alpaca at first. Definitely appropriate for next to skin wear, although buyer’s discretion on whether this would be appropriate for babywear.

For those unfamiliar with the Gulf Coast Native sheep breed, they are listed as Critically Endangered by the Livestock Conservancy. A landrace breed that developed from breeding stock dropped off by the Spaniards several hundred years ago, these sheep developed on scrubland still considered unfit for agriculture. They are technically still feral, but ours forget that whenever they see we have alfalfa pellets.
